Explorer Scouts - Young Leaders

Young Leaders are youngsters of Explorer Scout age who help in a Beaver Scout, Cub Scout or Scout section, within a Scout Group.

They are part of the Leadership team and are required to do some training to help them in their role.

A youngster doing their Duke of Edinburgh Award service by helping in one of the Sections is also a Young Leader.

Young Leaders can also be members of one of the other five Units in the District. Click Here for more details.

As a Young Leader you are a member of Maidenhead's Young Leaders Unit. Your Explorer Unit Leader is Nicolette Smith

Maidenhead Young Leaders also have a Programme of Events together with other YLs in Maidenhead they can take part in activities and events.

Training will be at Pinkneys Green Scout Hall, (Winter Hill Road Pinkneys Green, SL6 6NS).

     Monopoly run in London on a Sat. possible stay over for Sun., BP house maybe.
     Day out in Oxford or Stratford upon Avon.
    Youth hostelling weekend.

Q: What is the Young Leaders' Scheme anyway?
The Young Leaders' Scheme is just one of the exciting programme elements in the Explorer Scout Section. All leaders in the Beaver Scout, Cub Scout and Scout Section who are between the ages of 14 and 18 must be members of Maidenhead's Young Leaders' Unit. They are Explorer Scouts who choose to devote a large proportion of their time in Scouting to service in another Section.

Q: What is the Young Leaders' Scheme?
The Young Leaders' Scheme helps you develop and grow as an individual. It allows you to make a valuable contribution to your community and give service to others. The scheme also helps them fulfil the service elements of your awards.

Q: I'm interested in becoming a Young Leader?
If you would like to find out more about the Young Leaders' Scheme in your area, then you should talk to the Section Leader you would like to help in or your Explorer Scout Leader or District Explorer Scout Commissioner.

Q: What if I'm already a Young Leader!
If you are already a Young Leader, then you'll find that the fact sheets are really helpful! They refresh some of the ideas that you will have come across in your training.
