On Saturday 26 February all the Beaver Scout Colonies - 217 Beavers together with their Leaders/Helpers - took part in the Annual District Beaveree. This year the theme was BOOKS. After the Opening Ceremony there were 12 bases for the Beavers to visit with each base providing an activity.

The activities included making their own picture books, a pairs game, potatoe printing, Harry Potter spiders, decorating ginger biscuits, making masks, Hansel and Gretal (food to eat), making marshmallow caterpillars and a cat in the hat together with activities based on the Jungle Book. The District good turn this year was to collect sacks of second hand clothes for the Blue Peter Appeal (to reunite families in Angola). The Beavers were shown on the map of Africa where Angola was and Maggie Kearney talked to them about what life must have been like for children separated from their families during the civil was. Over 100 sacks of clothes have been handed over to the Red Cross. We closed with Head, shoulders, knees and toes and the presentation of certificates and the Beaver Trophy to 13th Maidenhead Colony.
