DISTRICT OUTING 2007
The National Maritime Museum at Greenwich
Sunday 14th October, 120 Beaver Scouts from the Maidenhead District spent a
brilliant day at The National Maritime Museum at Greenwich. It was not
just the bright sunny day that made it brilliant.
The Beaver Scouts were
able to complete a trail about Explorers to gain their Explore activity
badge which is sponsored by the museum;
visit the hands on gallery where they could try experiments and pilot a ship into harbor;
learn a bit
about space travel in the brand new astronomy galleries;
straddle the
Greenwich Meridian and play in the beautiful park.
The journey took them
through London and the more observant were able to pick out notable
landmarks. The pictures show some of the Beaver Scouts around one of the
huge anchors that are at the entrance to the museum, having fun in the
park and a group with the museum and park in the background

A B C D (a Beaver Craft Day - November 2004)
Smiling faced Beaver Scouts arrived bright and early at Boyne Hill/Altwood Scout HQ, clutching their precious entries for the first Beaver Scout Craft Competition in Maidenhead District. Split into two classes, one for six year old's and another for seven year old's, each had sections for masks, puppets, collage, drawing and junk craft models. A final section was for whole colonies to work together on a model campsite or zoo.
Judging of entries was performed by the Maidenhead Scout Fellowship together with two County representatives. Grateful thanks is extended to all the judges for their success in carrying out a difficult task - the standard of work was very good.
The Beaver Scouts returned at the end of the morning, with great anticipation, to view all the entries and for the presentation of certificates. The District Commissioner, Ray Tucker, awarded certificates to the first, second and third placed entrants. All entrants received a 'Well Done' certificate.
It was a very happy event and the enthusiasm of those Beaver Scouts who entered the event and of their parents is to be commended. Congratulations and thanks to all who took part.
